Aaron Rodgers’ Future with Jets: 50% Chance of Return?

Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, has a 50% chance of returning to the team in 2025. He is under contract for that year but has not played up to expectations. Rodgers, 41, is preparing for what might be his final two games with the Jets and possibly his NFL career. Despite an MCL injury, he plans to play against the Buffalo Bills. Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich was noncommittal about Rodgers’ participation. The Jets, with a record of 4-11, are closing out their most disappointing season in recent memory. Rodgers has had a strained relationship with owner Woody Johnson, who suggested benching him in Week 6. Rodgers has openly discussed the possibility of being released as soon as January 6, 2024, but considers it unlikely. He expressed gratitude to the Johnsons for bringing him to New York in 2023. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who has 90 receptions and is the fourth-most-targeted player in the league (139), has seen his numbers decline since Davante Adams’ arrival in Week 7. Adams has 93 targets and 56 receptions since the trade, while Wilson has 74 and 49, respectively. Rookie left tackle Olu Fashanu suffered a season-ending plantar fascia injury on his left foot but won’t need surgery.
