The New York Jets have officially parted ways with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, concluding a tenure marked by high expectations but little on-field success. Rodgers, who joined the Jets in 2023, played 18 games, winning only six. His time with the team ended with a 5-12 record in 2024. The Jets are set to release Rodgers with a post-June 1 designation, allowing them to spread his $49 million cap hit over two years: $14 million in 2025 and $35 million in 2026. This move will save the team $9.5 million in cap space for 2025. Rodgers’ performance was uneven, finishing 25th in Total QBR, 30th in completion percentage, and 28th in yards per attempt among qualified passers. Despite his struggles, he threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns, ranking third on the Jets’ single-season list. The team now faces a quarterback vacancy, with veteran Tyrod Taylor and rookie Jordan Travis as current options.
