Stellantis has paused production at its assembly plants in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and Toluca, Mexico, due to new 25% automotive tariffs. The downtime at the Canadian plant will last two weeks starting Monday, while the Mexican plant will be idle for the entire month of April. As a result, approximately 4,500 hourly workers at the Canadian facility and about 900 U.S. workers at supporting plants will face temporary layoffs. Workers at the Mexican plant will report to work but not produce vehicles. The Canadian plant manufactures the Chrysler Pacifica minivan and the Dodge Charger Daytona EV, while the Mexican facility produces the Jeep Compass SUV and Jeep Wagoneer S EV. Stellantis’ stock fell 9.4% to close at $10.21 on the day of the announcement, marking its worst performance since September. Meanwhile, Ford and General Motors have also reacted to the tariffs. Ford introduced a sales program offering employee discounts to all customers from April 3 through June 2, excluding certain larger vehicles. General Motors plans to increase pickup truck production at an Indiana plant. U.S. auto sales in the first quarter exceeded expectations as consumers rushed to purchase vehicles before the tariffs took effect, anticipating higher prices.

They might be saying that, but it is 100% not true. Stellantis was planning for layoffs even without Tariffs.
They have been absolutely cooked among already struggling automakers, largely due to the CEO that just left and his decisions (among others) with Dodge and Jeep

Stellantis is laying people off when GM is adding. Stellantis just has a crapy product and have been circling bankruptcy for 2 years.
