General Motors is reducing production of its BrightDrop electric delivery vans at its CAMI plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. The facility will switch from two shifts to one, resulting in the elimination of 500 jobs. The plant will be idled from May until October 2025. Additionally, battery pack assembly will halt during the weeks of April 21 and April 28. GM attributes these changes to market demand and inventory re-balancing. Despite high expectations, BrightDrop’s sales fell short. The company aimed for $1 billion in revenue in 2023 but likely did not meet this goal. Over 2023 and 2024, GM sold approximately 2,000 BrightDrop vans. Reports also noted hundreds of these vehicles stored in a lot in Flint, Michigan.

GM to lay off 200 workers, not because of tariffs, but because of lower-than-expected demand for electric vehicles.Looks like 200 more reasons why wasting 1 billion tax dollars on EV subsidies was a bad idea.

Folks be AWARE: the layoffs were NOT due to tariffs. They were due to GM switching to electric vehicles THAT NO ONE WANTS.No demand = less production.
