Stellantis Plans $1.5 Billion Investment in U.S. Manufacturing

Stellantis, the trans-Atlantic automaker, has announced plans to invest heavily in its U.S. operations. The company aims to create 1,500 jobs and reopen a plant in Illinois to produce a new midsize pickup truck by 2027. Additionally, a new version of the Dodge Durango SUV, previously considered for production in Mexico, will now be built in Detroit. The company will also enhance support for its facilities in Toledo, Ohio, and Kokomo, Indiana. These investments are part of a broader strategy to increase market share and sales volume, with a multibillion-dollar commitment to its workforce, products, and technology in the U.S. The plans were detailed by Stellantis Chairman John Elkann during a meeting with President Donald Trump before his inauguration.
