$1 Billion Investment: Honda’s Ohio EV Revolution

Honda is investing over $1 billion in Ohio to transform its Marysville Auto Plant into a hub for electric vehicle (EV) production. This includes installing six 6,000-ton “giga presses” for battery case manufacturing, a technology popularized by Tesla. The plant will produce traditional vehicles, hybrids, and EVs on the same line. Honda’s goal is to make Marysville the global standard for EV production. The company plans to produce 220,000 vehicles annually at Marysville, with the first EV, an Acura RSX crossover, expected later this year. Honda also aims for zero environmental impact by 2050, including exclusively selling zero-emissions vehicles by 2040. The investment includes new manufacturing processes to lower emissions and waste, using recyclable aluminum for EV battery packs.
