According to the 2023 American Community Survey, a mere couple thousand Americans have a high school education or less, earn over $200,000 annually, work 20 to 29 hours per week, and have a commute under 15 minutes. The most common work cohort, however, consists of individuals with a high school education, earning between $35,000 and $49,000, working full-time, and commuting 15 to 29 minutes. The second largest group earns slightly more, between $50,000 and $74,000, with the same education and work hours. The data shows that higher education levels generally correlate with higher income brackets, but there are exceptions. Work hours and commute times are evenly distributed across income and education levels. The survey’s estimates, based on sample data, highlight the distribution of work cohorts rather than exact counts.
