The Korean historical thriller ‘Harbin’, starring Hyun Bin, has been sold for distribution in 117 countries. Since its release on December 24, the film has grossed over $25 million in South Korea with more than 3.8 million admissions. It has topped the domestic box office. CJ ENM, responsible for sales, reported that ‘Harbin’ has been acquired by distributors in France, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, CIS countries, and for inflight entertainment. In Asia, the film has been sold to Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and the Philippines. ‘Harbin’ premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and was released in the US on January 3. It has also been released in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The film, set in the early 1900s, follows independence fighter Ahn Jung-geun’s mission to assassinate Ito Hirobumi, the first Japanese Resident-General of Korea.
