$2 Billion Milestone: Chinese Film ‘Ne Zha 2’ Shatters Global Box Office Records

Statistics reveal that the Chinese animated film ‘Ne Zha 2’ has become the first non-Hollywood movie to surpass $2 billion worldwide. This achievement places it among only six films in history to reach this financial milestone. The original ‘Ne Zha’ film previously held the record as China’s highest-grossing animated film, earning nearly $700 million. The sequel’s release coincided with the lucrative Lunar New Year period in China, contributing to its record-breaking success. Additionally, ‘Ne Zha 2’ has secured a release in the UK and Europe starting March 14. In other news, experts estimate that about half of television content originates from adapted novels or news articles. Meanwhile, Ireland’s film industry boasts a competitive tax credit, soon to increase to 40% on eligible expenditures, which is based on 80% of a film’s budget and pays out 90% upfront.
