789 Yards and a New Team: Jordan Mason’s Impressive Stats Lead to Vikings Trade

Jordan Mason, a 25-year-old running back, has been traded from the San Francisco 49ers to the Minnesota Vikings. In exchange, the 49ers will receive a 2026 sixth-round pick and swap picks in the current draft, with San Francisco getting pick No. 160 and Minnesota receiving pick No. 187. Mason has signed a two-year deal with the Vikings worth $7 million fully guaranteed and a maximum value of $12 million. Last season, Mason showcased his talent by rushing for a career-high 789 yards on 153 attempts with three touchdowns in six starts for the 49ers. He averaged 6 yards per carry in 2022 and 5.2 yards per attempt in 2023. The Vikings, who finished the 2024 regular season with a 14-3 record, have been active in the offseason, re-signing or acquiring 12 players in the last week. Mason will join starter Aaron Jones, who set career highs with 306 touches, 255 carries, and 700 offensive snaps last season. The Vikings have also bolstered their offensive line, signing center Ryan Kelly and right guard Will Fries to multiyear deals totaling $107 million.

Tell your friends and family that Jordan Mason had equivalent numbers to Jahmyr Gibbs and Derrick Henry when it came to picking up yards after contact and forcing missed tackles on a per carry basis last season
