New Europe Film Sales has acquired the sales rights for Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason’s upcoming feature, The Love That Remains. This film, shot in Eastern Iceland, is set to be completed in 2025. It captures a year in the life of a family dealing with separation, showcasing both playful and heartfelt moments. The movie will be presented at the Berlinale’s European Film Market in February, with first clips shown at the Göteborg Nordic Film Market at the end of this month. The film boasts a cast including Saga Garðarsdóttir, Sverrir Gudnason, and others. It’s a collaborative effort with production companies from Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, and France. The project has received backing from various international sources, contributing 40% of its budget. New Europe has previously handled sales for all of Pálmason’s features, which have been well-received at international film festivals.
