Ethereum’s new privacy pools, launched by 0xbow, have seen a significant uptake with 238 user deposit transactions processed in just three days. These transactions total 67.49 ETH. The privacy pools, which went live on April 1, utilize zero-knowledge proofs and commitment schemes to ensure user privacy while allowing for ether deposits and withdrawals. The system breaks the link between deposit and withdrawal addresses, enhancing user anonymity. Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin was among the first to deposit ETH into these pools. The architecture of the privacy pools includes a contract layer for asset management, a zero-knowledge layer for privacy, and an association set provider layer for compliance. This setup screens transactions to prevent links to illicit activities. The pools are non-custodial, meaning users maintain full control over their funds. Current deposit limits range from 0.1 ETH to 1 ETH, with plans to increase these limits after initial testing.
