Stacked bar charts are popular for displaying parts of a whole over time or across categories. However, 75% of data visualizers find them challenging. The main issue is that a tall section at the bottom of the chart pushes up all the sections above it. This makes it difficult to accurately compare the sizes of different segments. Despite this, there are effective strategies to overcome these visualization hurdles.
