Phantom Neuro, a neurotechnology firm, has successfully raised \$19 million in a Series A funding round. This brings their total funding to \$28 million. The round was led by Ottobock, with contributions from both existing and new investors. The company, which emerged from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, specializes in the Phantom X technology. This peripheral neural interface enables users to control sophisticated electronic systems like prosthetics and robotic exoskeletons naturally. The funds will support the completion of initial human trials, preclinical testing, regulatory submissions, and further research and development. In March, Phantom Neuro received two FDA designations for Phantom X: breakthrough device and Targeted Acceleration Pathway. In 2023, they integrated IoT technology with implantable medical systems through a partnership with Silicon Labs Wi-Fi. Previously, in 2022, the company secured \$3.25 million in seed funding, followed by \$6 million in expanded seed funding. That year, they also formed an alliance with Blackrock Neurotech to enhance Phantom X’s development and expedite clinical trials.
