Tubi Surges to 97 Million Monthly Users and 10 Billion Streaming Hours

Tubi, the free, ad-supported streaming service, has seen a significant increase in its user base, reaching 97 million monthly active users (MAUs) and accumulating 10 billion streaming hours annually. Acquired by Fox Corp. for $440 million in 2020, Tubi is now projected to generate $1 billion in revenue for the year, a sharp rise from the $150 million at the time of acquisition. Despite the lack of a standardized definition for MAUs, Tubi’s growth is evident as it outpaces competitors like Max, Peacock, and Paramount+ on Nielsen’s monthly Gauge chart, closely trailing YouTube as the second most popular free streaming service. The platform’s audience is predominantly young, with over 34% aged 18-34, and nearly half identifying as multicultural. A significant 77% of viewers do not subscribe to cable TV. Tubi’s content strategy includes a mix of library titles and originals, with one in four viewers engaging with its original programming. The young adult romance “Sidelined: The QB and Me” became the most-watched title in Tubi’s history during its first week in November.
