The New England Patriots are set to hire Josh McDaniels as their offensive coordinator, marking his third stint with the franchise. McDaniels will work under head coach Mike Vrabel, who played for the Patriots from 2001 to 2008, winning three Super Bowls. McDaniels, who did not coach in the NFL in 2024, previously mentored quarterback Mac Jones to a successful rookie season in 2021, earning him a Pro Bowl alternate spot. Now, he aims to replicate this success with Drake Maye, the No. 3 pick in the 2024 draft. Maye, in his rookie year, started 12 games, completing 225 of 338 passes for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 421 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, the Patriots are expected to name Terrell Williams as their defensive coordinator. Williams, who worked with Vrabel in Tennessee from 2018 to 2023, was the Titans’ assistant head coach and coached the defensive line.
