The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired head coach Doug Pederson after a disappointing 4-13 season, marking the end of his three-year tenure. Despite a promising start, the team lost 18 of its past 23 games. Pederson’s record with the Jaguars was 22-29, including a 9-8 record in his first two seasons. The team won the AFC South in 2022, rallying from a 27-0 deficit to beat the Chargers in a wild-card playoff game before losing to the Chiefs. However, the 2023 season saw the Jaguars start 8-3 but collapse to a 1-5 finish, missing the playoffs. The team’s defense ranked 31st in the NFL, allowing 389.9 yards per game. Offensively, they struggled, ranking 25th in yards per game (305.8) and 21st in passing yards per game (204.5). Rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr. was a bright spot, leading all rookies with 1,282 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. General Manager Trent Baalke, entering the final year of his contract, remains with the team.
