The Dallas Cowboys have appointed Brian Schottenheimer as their 10th head coach in franchise history. Schottenheimer, 51, signed a four-year contract with the team. His father, Marty Schottenheimer, had an impressive coaching record, making the playoffs 18 times in 21 years and ranking seventh in NFL history with 200 regular-season wins. Brian Schottenheimer has been an offensive coordinator for several teams, including the St. Louis Rams, Jets, Seahawks, and Cowboys. He has led four offenses to top 10 finishes in points per game and three to top half in yards per game. In 2023, under his influence, the Cowboys had the highest-scoring offense in the league at 29.9 points per game and ranked fifth in yards per game at 371.6. However, in 2024, the team struggled, averaging 20.6 points and 327.5 yards per game. Schottenheimer’s challenge is to end the Cowboys’ 29-year Super Bowl drought.
