The New England Patriots have significantly bolstered their offense by signing veteran receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million contract, with $26 million guaranteed. Last season, the Patriots’ receivers ranked 28th in the NFL, recording only 161 catches, 10 touchdowns, and 1,723 receiving yards. They also tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for last place with 78 first downs. Diggs, despite recovering from a torn ACL suffered on October 27, is expected to be ready for Week 1. Before his injury, Diggs had a streak of six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. The Patriots have not had a receiver reach this milestone since Julian Edelman in 2019. This move aims to support second-year quarterback Drake Maye, providing him with a top-tier pass catcher known for elite route-running.
