Meta’s New Strategy: 90% of Users to Engage with Community Notes

Meta, the social media giant, is shifting its approach to content moderation. The company is phasing out its third-party fact-checking program in the U.S. Instead, Meta is adopting a “Community Notes” system, similar to one used by another platform. This change aims to reduce what the company describes as “frequent and unnecessary censorship.” CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that this new system will allow users to contribute to the moderation process. He predicts that within a year, 90% of users will engage with these community notes, significantly altering how content is managed on Meta’s platforms.
