Meta Eyes Nuclear Power for AI: Up to 4 Gigawatts Planned

Meta is planning to introduce nuclear reactors in the early 2030s to energize AI data centers and communities. They’re targeting a large pipeline of one to four gigawatts of new nuclear generation. The company seeks partners to speed up the deployment of nuclear generators, aiming for cost reductions through multiple unit deployment. Meta’s head of global energy, Urvi Parekh, expressed openness to various reactor types and locations, emphasizing early cost-sharing and long-term partnerships. This move aligns Meta with tech giants like Google and Amazon in leveraging nuclear energy for AI operations.
