Javonte Green, a forward for the New Orleans Pelicans, has agreed to a contract buyout. He plans to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers once he clears waivers. This move will add depth to the Cavaliers’ wing positions, especially useful against teams like the Boston Celtics with their star wings, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Green’s performance in his last game for the Pelicans was notable. He played a season-high 34 minutes, starting in place of Zion Williamson, and contributed 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists in an overtime victory against the Sacramento Kings.
Throughout the season, Green averaged 5.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. He ranks second on the Pelicans in both total blocks and steals. This will be Green’s fourth team in his sixth NBA season, where he has averaged 5.5 points and 3.2 rebounds overall.
