FCC Launches Probe into Comcast and NBCUniversal’s DEI Practices

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has initiated an investigation into Comcast Corp. and its subsidiary NBCUniversal’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. This inquiry follows an executive order by President Donald Trump aimed at ending DEI practices in U.S. corporations. The FCC, which oversees media and telecommunications, is examining Comcast’s broadband, mobile, and cable TV services, as well as NBCUniversal’s extensive media operations. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, recently appointed by Trump, expressed concerns over potential non-compliance with FCC regulations. Comcast has pledged full cooperation with the FCC. Meanwhile, FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks has voiced concerns about the investigation’s scope and legality. In related news, Disney is adjusting its DEI programs, and PBS is closing its DEI office to comply with the executive order.
