The DOGE agency’s aggressive technological overhaul is putting critical government services at risk. Previously, the US Digital Service (USDS) and 18F, dismantled by DOGE, had successfully improved infrastructure across federal agencies. For instance, the IRS’s DirectFile system, developed over years, achieved a 90% user satisfaction rate, with 86% of users reporting increased trust in the IRS. However, DOGE plans to terminate this program. In January, 21 experienced technologists resigned from USDS, unwilling to compromise core services under DOGE’s new directives. The agency’s rapid changes, including plans to rebuild the Social Security Administration’s COBOL-based system in months rather than the estimated five years, could impact over 65 million Social Security recipients. These moves threaten the safety and efficiency of government data management and service delivery.

I was skeptical but quite hopeful for Doge, but their incompetence in finding fraud, indiscriminate cuts to useful programs, inability to run a website, revealing secret information, and failure to even understand the systems they’re critiquing, is an enormous blackpill.

Moskowitz: 34% of Americans support how DOGE is going about it, when 75% of Americans support the mission. So that tells you right there that the execution has been a big failure.

And why was there an atypical high volume ? DOGE trying to force people to use online systems they’re not comfortable using. Also scaring people. DOGE is the source of the problem.
