80% of DOGE’s Data Access Blocked: Federal Judge Rules

A federal judge has ruled that the US Department of Education and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) likely violated the Privacy Act by sharing personal information with DOGE without consent. This unauthorized disclosure was deemed irreparable harm. The judge issued a temporary restraining order, effective until March 10, 2025, preventing DOGE from accessing this data. However, the judge did not extend this order to Department of Treasury data, as another court had already issued a preliminary injunction on February 21, 2025, blocking DOGE’s access to Treasury information. This injunction was part of a case involving 19 states against President Trump, focusing on preventing DOGE from accessing sensitive financial data. The Treasury’s injunction is set to remain in place until further court orders.
