90% Drop in U.S. Film Imports to China: Shocking Stats Revealed!

The China Film Administration has announced a reduction in the number of U.S. films allowed into the country. This decision follows the U.S. increasing tariffs on Chinese products to 125%, while China plans to impose 84% tariffs on U.S. imports. The move comes after influential Chinese bloggers suggested countermeasures to U.S. tariff threats. Currently, two American films, Furious 7 and A Minecraft Movie, lead presales for Friday in China. The Minecraft Movie, released by Warner Bros and Legendary, opened with $14.5 million in ticket sales in China, contributing over 10% to its $144 million international box office. Despite a decline in U.S. film earnings in China since 2012-2019, the market remains crucial for American studios. Imax remains optimistic, expecting a strong year in China following their highest-grossing first quarter ever in the country.

China govt. takes between 75%-87% of all US film grosses. Until MINECRAFT nobody in China was going to see US movies like pre-Covid anyway. Holly Wood producing films with the Chinese audience in mind was never a smart box office strategy, but it looks legit retarded now.
