89th Masters: 14 Top 25 Players Within 6 Shots of Lead!

The 89th Masters tournament at Augusta National has set the stage for an exciting weekend. After two rounds, 14 of the top 25 players in the world are within six shots of the lead. Justin Rose leads the tournament, with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy just three and two shots behind, respectively. Eight golfers are within three shots of the lead, and 11 are only four shots back. Notable players within five shots of Rose include Viktor Hovland, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa, and Ludvig Aberg. Matsuyama, despite a double bogey in the first round, gained 4.43 strokes on approach and 6.52 strokes tee to green in the second round but lost over three strokes on the greens. Patrick Reed, another former champion, has finished in the top 12 in four of his past five Masters starts. Xander Schauffele, tied for 17th, gained nearly four strokes on the field with his approach play on Friday. Matt McCarty, a Korn Ferry alum, is tied for sixth after gaining nearly four strokes with his putting and leading the field in strokes gained: approach.

Under the radar Masters record chase:21 shots is the biggest improvement from first to second round.Nick Dunlap who shot 90 is -3 through 9. Gets one more and Dunlap gets the record.Regardless, mad respect to him for teeing it up after 90.
