75% of Interviewed LGBTQ+ Individuals Report War Crimes: Ukrainian Soldiers’ Stories

In a striking revelation, 75% of 107 interviewed members of the LGBTQI+ community reported being victims or witnesses of war crimes during the Russian occupation of Kherson in 2022. The documentary “Our Colors Never Fade,” set for release in 2025, delves into the wartime experiences of Ukrainian LGBTQIA+ soldiers and civilians. Directed by Jim McSherry and executive produced by International Emmy winner Artem Lysak, the film is fully funded and currently in post-production. It highlights the resilience of these individuals who, instead of fleeing, chose to defend their country. The documentary captures their transition from everyday roles to frontline duties, such as a veterinarian becoming a sniper and a game developer turning to drone manufacturing. Amidst their fight, they also provide safety for abandoned animals. The film aims to shed light on the often-ignored stories of the LGBTQIA+ community in conflict zones, showcasing their personal sacrifices and the intersection of identity and duty.
