5.4 Million Subscribers: The Untold Stories Behind True Crime Hits

The statistics behind the distribution of true crime series reveal a significant global interest. National Geographic acquired U.S. rights to the ten-part series “Missing Presumed Dead,” produced by Spirit Studios and distributed by Quintus Studios. This series explores the real-life stories of individuals who vanished, including a British family lost at sea, kidnap victim Peter Shaw, aid worker Ian Purchase taken by the Taliban, and journalist Michael Scott Moore captured in Somalia. Quintus also secured a co-production deal with Hearst Networks EMEA for the UK and other regions. Another series, “Behind Bars: The World’s Toughest Prisons,” sold Season 2 to Viasat World for Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltics, and Scandinavia. Mediawan acquired French rights for Season 3, CH Media in Switzerland took Seasons 3 and 4, and Discovery Latin America bought Season 5. These series highlight the demand for impactful storytelling, with Quintus’s AVOD channels reaching over 13 million subscribers, including Free Documentary with 5.4 million YouTube subscribers.
