Senate Republicans have flagged nearly 3,500 National Science Foundation (NSF) grants, totaling over $2 billion, as potentially ideological and of questionable scientific value. Researchers like Darren Lipomi, whose project aims to help throat cancer patients recover from radiation therapy, and Shumpei Maruyama, a Japanese immigrant and cell biologist, express confusion and fear over the implications of being on this list.
