168.9% Revenue Surge: Frostpunk 2 Sells Nearly 600,000 Units Amid Challenges

In 2024, 11 Bit Studios reported a remarkable 168.9% increase in annual revenue, reaching PLN 140.54 million ($37.3 million). This growth was driven by new releases, including Frostpunk 2, which sold 592,000 units by December 2024, generating PLN 69.73 million ($18.5 million) in revenue. Legacy titles like Frostpunk and This War of Mine also contributed significantly. Despite these achievements, the year was challenging for the studio, with an operating loss of PLN 2.84 million ($753,000) and a net profit of PLN 6.90 million ($1.8 million). The cancellation of Project 8 led to a non-cash impairment loss of PLN 48.42 million. Looking forward, 11 Bit Studios plans to launch another Frostpunk project in 2027 and a larger-scale title in 2029, aiming for financial improvement.

The game has already sold millions of copies in less than a week. It is the second biggest launch for Ubisoft after Valhalla. So yes, “those people”, aka people who play games, actually buy them. Only lame edgelords and incels were screaming about “woke” and won’t play it anyway,

Is it a success? Imo it’s a miracle it’s even still live considering everyone I know who bought it hasn’t played in forever including me. How many of those mil are active? It’s about 2600 on Steam. That’s an unfortunate side effect of going early access several years too early.
