A recent study has shed light on the growing concern that artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to make decisions without human oversight, leading to potentially biased outcomes. According to the study, 21% of Americans believe that AI can replace human judgment entirely, while 44% think it can augment human decision-making.
The study also found that 71% of respondents are concerned about the potential for AI to perpetuate existing biases and stereotypes, with 55% believing that AI systems are more likely to reflect societal prejudices than challenge them. Furthermore, 62% of participants reported feeling uncertain or uninformed about how AI is being used in decision-making processes.
These findings highlight the need for greater transparency and accountability in AI development and deployment, as well as education on the potential risks and benefits of relying on AI for decision-making.

“For people who feel marginalized, powerless, or cut off from the elite—like much of Gen Z—bots seem less judgmental than humans and thus give their users more agency. Perhaps perversely, that makes them easier to trust.”
