Ohio State’s 87.5% Winning Streak Ends with CFP Glory

Ohio State, under coach Ryan Day, clinched their first national championship in a decade, defeating Notre Dame 34-23 in the College Football Playoff National Championship. The Buckeyes, seeded eighth, showcased resilience after a devastating loss to Michigan, which had previously knocked them out of the Big Ten championship. Day, with a 70-10 record, now holds the second-best winning percentage (87.5%) among coaches with at least 80 FBS games. The game was a redemption for quarterback Will Howard, who completed 17 of 21 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Quinshon Judkins contributed with 100 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Notre Dame’s quarterback Riley Leonard threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Ohio State’s lead. This victory marks the Big Ten’s consecutive national titles for the first time since 1940-1942.
