Moana 3: Disney’s Next Big Hit? 87% Audience Approval for Moana 2!

Disney’s Moana franchise continues to captivate audiences. While Moana 3 has not been officially announced, the success of Moana 2, released in 2024, suggests a third film could be on the horizon. The first film, released in 2016, was followed by Moana 2 eight years later. If this pattern holds, fans might see Moana 3 in 2032. Moana 2, despite a lower critic rating of 62% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the first film’s 95%, boasts an impressive 87% audience approval. The sequel also set a record for the biggest opening weekend for an animated film, according to Forbes. A mid-credits scene in Moana 2 teases a potential villain team-up for the next installment, featuring Nalo, Matangi, and Tamatoa. Meanwhile, Disney is also working on a live-action Moana, set to premiere in 2026, with Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui.
