Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers’ star center, will miss the rest of the regular season due to ongoing issues with his left knee. Despite consulting with numerous doctors and specialists, Embiid’s knee has not responded well to treatments, including multiple injections. His performance has suffered, with his scoring average dropping to 23.8 points per game, the lowest since 2017-18. He also recorded career lows in rebounds (8.2), blocks (0.9), field goal percentage (44.4%), and win shares (1.5). Embiid played in only 19 games this season, missing 39. His last two games saw him score 15 or fewer points, a first since May 2021. The 76ers, who started the season with championship aspirations, have struggled, losing nine straight games and 11 of their last 12, resulting in a 20-38 record. This poor performance has positioned them with the sixth-worst record in the NBA, potentially benefiting their draft pick situation.
