These issues stem from the challenges of mapping in a conflict zone, where road checkpoints change frequently. Google does not differentiate between Israeli and Palestinian roads, as this would require knowing users’ citizenship. Despite efforts to improve services, many locals have abandoned Google Maps. A Google spokesperson mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance the app’s functionality in the region.
