The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has appointed Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Staczak as its new co-executive directors. This follows the recent announcement of Aya Miyaguchi stepping down from the role to become the EF’s president. Wang, who joined the EF in 2017, has been instrumental in research on sharding and Ethereum’s major update, the Merge. Staczak founded Nethermind, a significant Ethereum client. The leadership change comes amidst discussions about the EF’s role, as Ethereum’s token, ETH, has not kept pace with other cryptocurrencies, and the blockchain has seen fewer new developers than its competitor, Solana. The EF aims to guide Ethereum through its transition to a robust, censorship-resistant base layer for global finance and software. Additionally, former EF researcher Danny Ryan has joined Etherealize, a project focused on integrating ETH into Wall Street, aiming to educate institutions about Ethereum’s potential as a serious crypto asset.
