Bengals’ Defense Shines with 17.5 Sacks, Playoff Hopes Hang in Balance

The Cincinnati Bengals’ season remains alive after a 19-17 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bengals’ defense was pivotal, with defensive end Trey Hendrickson recording 3.5 sacks in the game, bringing his season total to 17.5 sacks. This performance puts him in the lead for the NFL sack title, with Houston’s Danielle Hunter trailing at 12 sacks entering Sunday’s games. The Bengals’ defense significantly improved from their previous encounter with the Steelers, limiting them to 193 total yards and a 4-of-12 conversion rate on third downs. Offensively, quarterback Joe Burrow completed 37 of 45 passes for 277 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Despite a brief scare when Burrow was evaluated for a concussion, he did not miss any plays. The Bengals need losses from both the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins to secure the seventh seed in the AFC playoffs.
