The BBC has finalized a new agreement with the UK actors union Equity, resulting in a significant 13% increase in episodic fees for performers on in-house BBC TV productions. Effective from April 7, this deal also raises other costs such as production day payments and overtime fees. Additionally, minimum weekly fees will see a 10% increase. The agreement extends to actors, walk-on and supporting artists, dancers, stunt performers, puppeteers, and singers involved in drama, comedy, and children’s shows like Eastenders, Casualty, Doctor Who, and Silent Witness. Beyond salary enhancements, the agreement introduces new regulations to combat bullying and harassment, reduce environmental impact, and improve audition self-tapes. It also includes penalties for late royalty payments, provisions for minors, and mandates the use of intimacy directors for scenes involving intimacy.
