A Boeing 787 Dreamliner carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India. The aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 625 feet before descending at a rate of -475 feet per minute. The plane, delivered to Air India in 2014, had accumulated over 41,000 flight hours and nearly 8,000 takeoffs. According to the police commissioner, there appear to be no survivors, and the crash into a residential area may have resulted in additional local casualties. The exact number of casualties is still being determined. The cause of the crash remains unknown and could take months to investigate. Following the incident, flights at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport were temporarily suspended but resumed a few hours later.
