Shocking Move: Trump Cancels $2.75 Billion in Broadband Grants

Statistics reveal that the Digital Equity Act of 2021, part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, allocated $2.75 billion for three grant programs. These grants aimed to enhance digital access for various underserved groups, including low-income households, individuals over 60, incarcerated people, veterans, those with disabilities, people facing language barriers, rural residents, and racial or ethnic minorities. The law permitted the use of funds for providing equipment, upgrading public computing centers, and supporting training and workforce development. Some states had already received funding last year. President Trump announced the termination of this program, claiming it was unconstitutional and racist. His decision to cancel the remaining grants could lead to legal challenges.
