Statistics reveal the rise and fall of several esports, each with unique gameplay and dedicated communities. Legends of Runeterra (LoR) launched in 2020, quickly gaining traction with a $100,000 Twitch Rivals tournament and a $200,000 LoR World Championship in 2021. Despite its success, Riot Games discontinued its esports due to financial unsustainability. GunZ: The Duel, known for its high skill ceiling, saw a decline due to issues like pay-to-win mechanics and poor developer support. Battlerite, launched in 2016, peaked with the Battlerite Pro League but saw its player base drop to under 100 daily players by 2019. Gears 5, released in 2019, aimed to revive the Gears of War franchise with a robust esports initiative but ended its competitive scene in 2022. Team Fortress 2 (TF2), despite a failed 2016 update, maintains a strong daily player base on Steam, with its competitive scene thriving through grassroots efforts. These games, with their active communities and unique niches, could see a resurgence with the right support and infrastructure.

Never thought I’d say this, but I miss the Play-to-Earn days.
I mean, most of the play-to-earn games we got back then were obviously either rugpulls, or money-driven projects, I’ll concede that. But still, I liked having a simple game where I could allow like 15 minutes a day,

The game was creative but it wasn’t fun.
After a year of desperate attempts to save it, Butterfield made the painful decision:
Shut it down and return what money they have left to investors.
40 employees and Years of work.
All wasted…
Or was it?

Main Prize Pool:
This reward system is a similar to a cashback, spending in game will fund the pool.
So, the more people actively play, the bigger the prize will be.
The distribution will be made through the game’s currency, and the more you accumulate, the more you earn.

They announced today they are putting it back. Question is, who decided that would be a good idea in first place?
