The Trump administration is set to address several policy issues upon taking office. A recent report revealed that the Biden administration directed at least 80 senior officials across 11 federal agencies to collaborate with media platforms to censor content that opposed their positions. This was described as potentially the most significant attack on free speech in U.S. history by Federal District Court Judge Terry Doughty. Despite legal challenges, the Supreme Court ruled that the plaintiffs lacked standing. The Trump administration plans to ban federal government collusion in censorship, defund institutions involved, and hold accountable those bureaucrats engaged in illegal censorship activities. Additionally, the administration aims to dismantle Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, which have been criticized for promoting racial discrimination despite constitutional prohibitions. The administration spent billions on these programs, and even after the Supreme Court’s ruling against affirmative action, universities continue to expand DEI efforts. Trump has pledged to appoint an “Anti-DEI czar” to rescind related executive actions and terminate associated contracts and grants. On transgender policies, the Biden administration’s actions, including regulations under Title IX, were temporarily blocked by the Supreme Court, but federal appellate courts have prohibited implementation of state laws barring transgender athletes from competing on opposite-sex teams. The Trump administration intends to restore previous regulations and protect women and girls through litigation.
