Walmart is set to expand its drone delivery service to three additional states. The retailer plans to launch this service at 100 stores in Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa within the next year. This expansion will make drone deliveries available in five states: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. Customers can request deliveries through the Wing app, with drones operating within a six-mile radius of the stores. Over 50% of Walmart’s 150,000 in-store items are eligible for drone delivery. Since 2021, Walmart has completed more than 150,000 drone deliveries. Common items delivered include eggs, ice cream, pet food, and fresh fruits like bananas and lemons. Drone deliveries typically take 30 minutes or less. Currently, Walmart operates 21 drone delivery sites in Arkansas and Texas.
