In a global survey, 54% of parents expressed a preference for having a girl rather than a boy. This statistic highlights a significant shift in parental preferences across the world. An American couple’s reaction to discovering they were having a boy went viral on TikTok. The mother-to-be was visibly upset, and her partner had to console her with the hope of having a daughter in the future. This incident underscores the growing trend where more parents are favoring girls. The data from the survey provides a clear insight into changing societal attitudes towards gender preferences in children.

Well done, world.
In countries like China, India, and South Korea — once known for a strong preference for sons — the tide is turning.

Son preference is falling. Daughter preference is rising.
~ The Economist
Once, the girl child was abandoned in the womb.
Today, the boy child is being sidelined ( remember Adolescence?)
Reversing bias is not the same as ending it.
Let’s be parents without any prejudice.
