43% of Restaurant Brands See Same-Store Sales Growth: Loyalty Programs Drive Success

A staggering 43% of restaurant brands have seen same-store sales growth, with loyalty programs playing a significant role in driving this success. One notable example is Starbucks, which boasts an impressive 34.2 million active rewards members – a whopping 59% of US transactions. Chipotle’s loyalty program has also been instrumental in its success, while Cava has amassed 7 million members through limited-time offers and challenges.

Interestingly, Starbucks recently ended its reusable cup bonus, replacing it with double stars on full purchases. This move may have contributed to the brand’s continued growth. Potbelly revamped its loyalty program in early 2024, switching from points to coins, which has led to a boost in visits. Portillo’s Perks, launched in March 2023, aims to sign up 1.5-1.7 million members by mid-summer.
