320 Longevity Clinics Worldwide: Are They the Future of Medicine or Just a Costly Experiment?

A survey of 82 longevity clinics across the US, Australia, Brazil, and multiple countries in Europe and Asia reveals a diverse landscape in the burgeoning field of longevity medicine. These clinics, numbering around 320 globally, cater primarily to wealthy clients and offer a range of services. Notably, 75% of the clinics reported that their main clientele are Gen Xers aged 44 to 59. Aesthetic treatments are common, with 28% offering Botox injections, 35% providing hair loss treatments, and 38% performing facial rejuvenation procedures. However, the survey also highlighted concerns, as over a third of the clinics offer unproven stem-cell treatments, and many prescribe off-label medications for aging, despite no evidence supporting their efficacy in extending life. Additionally, while annual costs for clients range from $10,000 to $150,000, only 39% of clinics are profitable, with 30% nearing break-even and 16% operating at a loss. Over 80% of these clinics are overseen by medical doctors with more than 10 years of experience.
