Netflix reported a significant earnings beat in the first quarter of 2025, with revenue increasing by nearly 13% to reach $10.54 billion. This figure surpassed Wall Street’s estimates of $10.52 billion. The company attributed this growth to higher-than-expected subscription and advertising revenues. In January, Netflix raised its prices, setting the standard plan at $17.99, the ad-supported plan at $7.99, and the premium plan at $24.99 per month. Notably, this was the first quarter Netflix did not disclose subscriber numbers, shifting focus to revenue and other financial metrics. Net income for the quarter was $2.89 billion, or $6.61 per share, up from $2.33 billion, or $5.28 per share, the previous year. Netflix anticipates full-year revenue to be between $43.5 billion and $44.5 billion. The company also launched its in-house ad tech platform in the U.S. in early April, aiming to enhance advertising capabilities in 2025.

Unleashing the Earnings Machine – Netflix $NFLX Earnings RecapModest top-line beat but enormous upside to margins, bottom-line, free cash flow. Same goes for 2Q.Why no increase to the FY guide, though? Sandbagging? That, + the slight miss in UCAN revenue, are my only gripes.
