In a stunning upset, 10th-seeded Arkansas defeated No. 2 seed St. John’s 75-66 in the NCAA tournament. The game took place in front of a sold-out crowd of 11,487 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion. St. John’s star player, RJ Luis Jr., struggled significantly, shooting just 3-for-17 from the field and 0-for-3 from beyond the arc. Despite his efforts, including a steal and slam dunk that energized the crowd, Luis was benched with 4:56 left in the game after making two free throws. St. John’s trailed by only two points at that moment. Arkansas outscored St. John’s 11-4 for the remainder of the game. Luis finished with nine points. The Red Storm shot a dismal 28% from the field and went 2-for-22 from three-point range. St. John’s ended their season with a 31-5 record, having won both the Big East regular-season and tournament titles.
