Shocking Stats: 10 Years of Bans and Millions in Bribes Plague CS2 Esports

In the world of CS2 esports, match-fixing remains a persistent issue. Former player Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko disclosed being offered significant sums of money to throw matches, with one offer described as an “insanely large amount.” Despite these temptations, Zeus never succumbed, understanding the potential ruin a single bad decision could bring after 20 years in the industry. The problem extends beyond individual experiences. A decade ago, dozens of CS:GO players faced bans due to match-fixing investigations. The FBI and the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) have intervened, recently dismantling a small group of match-fixers. The ESIC has been proactive, issuing bans in 2025, including a three-year suspension to Illya “Ganginho” Chernychenko, effective until December 2027. Additionally, the Mongolian esports organization ATOX faced bans and disqualifications from PGL and BLAST events amid ongoing ESIC investigations. Meanwhile, iBUYPOWER was recently unbanned from Valve tournaments after a 10-year ban for match-fixing. These statistics highlight the ongoing battle to maintain integrity in esports competitions.

The most disturbing aspect: match-fixing networks that corrupt the game itself. The economics are simple: A player might earn ₹50 lakh ($60,000) for an entire season. Bookies can offer 5x that amount for deliberately underperforming in just one match.

That’s it, I officially quit playing CS2. I had a 28,000 Premier Rating today and invited all my 4k elo friends to 5 stack to get 30,000 and win streak, but every game had blatant cheaters. Not just cheaters trying to hide it; people played with wall hacks and aim assistance
